Career Center for Science and Engineering Staff Biographies

Mark Sorenson-Wagner
Mark has been employed in the Career Center for Science and Engineering for seven years. He started as a graduate assistant in the office, advancing to career counselor, assistant director, and to his current position as director. Mark received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Morris and his Master’s degree in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Currently Mark is pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Mark enjoys hearing the unique ways students express their passions. He believes Science and Engineering students are incredibly talented and committed to making a difference in the world.

During Mark’s undergraduate career, he won a car!

Darren Kaltved
Darren has worked in the Career Center for Science and Engineering since 2005 after receiving a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and a Master of Education in Student Personnel Administration from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Darren enjoys playing a vital role in assisting students make their dreams a reality.

In 2006, Darren tried out for the Amazing Race with his father. He has hiked Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, and climbed to the top of Angel’s Landing in Mt. Zion National Park.

Donna Gustafson
Donna has been employed in the Career Center for Science and Engineering for ten years. She serves as the Center’s Recruiting Coordinator. Donna loves meeting students and company recruiters from all over the world.

Donna enjoys spending time with her family. She also enjoys being outdoors and relaxing at her family’s cabin.

Katy Witmer
Katy is a new career counselor in the Career Center for Science and Engineering who started in July 2008. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse in Communication Studies and her Master’s degree from Seattle University in Student Development Administration. Katy enjoys helping students reach their academic, personal, and career goals.

Megan Rivera
Megan also is a new career counselor in the Career Center for Science and Engineering, starting in July 2008. Megan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from the University of Minnesota, Duluth and a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Student Personnel with an emphasis in College Student Development from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Megan enjoys meeting with students to discuss their individual career and life plans. She finds it very rewarding to see students grow and succeed.

Megan has a Yorkshire Terrier and Maltese mix puppy named Dolce.
