Practice Interviewing

Thorough preparation is an essential part of being successful in an interview.

The Career Center for Science and Engineering provides a variety of opportunities for students to prepare for interviews. We strongly recommend that you use the following resources in preparation for your practice interview.

  • The CCSE Website offers an online workshop on effective interviewing. Click here for access to the Interviewing workshop. Visit the “Students” link as well for workshops on other career-related topics.
  • The Career and Job Search Guide outlines tips, strategies and effective approaches for successful interviewing. This guide is also available in paper format in 50 Lind Hall.
  • Employers can also provide realistic interview practice for students during our Mock Interview Week Program offered during the fall and spring semesters. Watch the CCSE website “Announcements” for more information.
  • The CCSE Career Resource Library in 50 Lind Hall has several resources outlining effective preparation strategies and sample questions that may be asked in a job interview. Information on many local, regional and national employers may also be found in the resource library.
  • Career counselors are available by appointment to work with students to prepare for an interview as well as to conduct practice “mock” interviews. To schedule an appointment, please call the CCSE at (612) 624-4090. For quick questions (10-15 minute appointments), the CCSE offers walk-in hours Monday through Friday from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
  • InterviewSteam (see link below) - CCSE provides online interviewing practice that can be accessed and saved via the Internet and uploaded into CCSE’s database or shared with a career counselor for feedback during a scheduled appointment. To schedule an appointment with a CCSE career counselor, please call 612-624-4090.
